Pastoral counseling is a form of psychotherapy. It is therapy that uses spiritual resources alongside psychological understanding. It is not psychotherapy that requires state licensure but is normally provided by ordained clergy and/or pastors that are recognized by a major faith. It is faith-based counseling giving way to the multitude of denominations within the Christian church without prejudice or judgment.
